Italy Veneciano or North Italy from the anime Hetalia has recently grew more popularity due to the fandom's "thing". What I noticed is that several Hetafan made him into a bad ass character which is kind of cool. Some of them made the fandom sympathize of his story or made him look pitiful. The 3 topics I'm referring to are Hetalia 23.5, Dreamtalia, and the infamous HetaOni.

- Hetalia 23.5 : Creepy Pasta. Lately, I have seen a lot of references regarding with APH (Axis Powers Hetalia) 23.5, however, I have never understood that references until now. Not to mention it was an issue back in 2012, that's 3 years ago! Being curious, I looked up at Youtube, thinking it was one of those MMDs or another epic and/or emotional RPG Hetagames, but it wasn't and had never gave me the answer I was looking for. All of the uploaders were too secretive of the info and the commentators keeps stating "Italy! Italy!!!", "Hugs", "Noooooooo!" or "Cannot Unseen", "Creappy Pasta 23.5", or "Dat references #Hetalia23.5" or something... This made me more curious. So I looked up to good ol'Google. When I saw it there were posts from a fanfiction blogs, so I thought "Okay, it's probably a well known fanfiction of Italy being an epic character" again, unfortunately, it wasn't. Unlike the rest of the 2 topics that I will mention, Hetalia 23.5 is a real "cancelled episode". I have clicked a legit site (hetawiki/wikitalia) and read the story of a cancelled/lost episode of Hetalia. I haven't watched the episode but the story is unimaginable/unbelievable. I didn't believe at first so I have to checked the comments. Unfortunately, it was true. Several people have purchased the DVD series, with the cancelled episode, have stated that the written story of the site was true, they have seen it and one of the "victim" of the episode made two screenshots of the episode. I don't know what cam from the directors mind with this. Were the animators and the Seiyuus okay with it??? My apologies, but I cannot mention or utter anything about the story. It's hard for me to explain it all and i's something I cannot bare to type it, look up to Google.
Well, in the end... everyone regret watching and/or reading it.. - Dreamtalia. Dreamtalia is an English RPG Hetagame made by Kyo. The story is nice, the face icons are good, and the CGs are absolutely gorgeous! I am captivated by its art and story, although there were a lot of references from other Heta-fanfictions and games and several GerIta moments.
The game isn't finished, or rather, it's still on going along with the present chapters. Regarding the topic: Italy, what made him cool here is his shadow form. Ah...well, he's not actually Italy Veneciano but he took his form or made Italy the 'host'. The plot here is that Italy, along with Finland, Canada, Austria, and probably other countries, have fallen victim of the "Faucherêve" or the Dream Reaper ((his friends call him Rêve-//slapped)).
He is in a form of Italy but consumed with shadows. He preys the innocent/pure individuals from their reflections/shadows and takes them to a "dream land" where their wish will come true and be happy forever.The problem here is that the more the victim falls for the illusion, the more they will disconnect themselves from the real world: death. So it's up to Germany, Japan, America, England, China, and Russia to save them! Also, there were several epic plot twists that made the viewers subscribed and waited for the finished one. Like the rest, I'm also waiting for the next chapter to come.
- HetaOni. HetaOni is a Japanese RPG format game created by Tomoyoshi, based on another RPG game Ao Oni created by noprops. A youtube user, SotetAG, has translated and subbed it in several languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish and Dutch. A user on DeviantArt, Pianodream, has created a playable English version of which can be downloaded from her page. (link has been fixed). The original version of the game has not been updated since 2011. The English version, however, is V17 and ends in the middle of chapter 17. The series starts off with the Axis Powers along with Prussia , after a World Conference Meeting, standing in front of a supposedly haunted mansion. They decide to go inside and explore for awhile. Soon they are interrupted when a plate breaks and Japan goes to investigate, only to come back to see the others missing. After alien attacks and various other strange happenings, the Allies, and Canada , also arrive at the mansion, becoming locked in as well. Characters suddenly disappear and a time paradox is revealed. Eventually other characters, such as South Italy and Belarus, arrive as well. As the plot goes on, it is revealed that Italy carries a journal around. The journal allows Italy to travel through time. The first time Italy came to the mansion, everyone died. Italy makes it out of the mansion as the only one alive and is meet by the alien, and holding the journal. Italy in tears tells the alien to bring it back in time, so that Italy can correct his mistakes, and so he would be the only one that would die. So again and again, Italy travels back in time, each time after everyone fails to escape safely. Either Italy dies, or everyone dies. Italy is seen to know everything that would happen, and is bitter about the mistakes he had made, and nervous about what he might do wrong again.
This game brings mixed emotions of sadness, excitement, anger, etc. to the fandom. A lot of people then give feels and hugs for lil' Italy. Like what as mentioned earlier, the story sadly ended unfinished due to the lost of its data from the 2011 earthquake & tsunami that was brought in Japan. Several fanfction authors, though, made some ending theories of the game, they were good but none of them dared to canonized it due to respect for the creator.
